The Bangor High School math team kicked off Math March Madness in championship style, hosting the final Eastern Maine Math League meet of the season and defeating the Maine School of Science & Mathematics magnet school to claim the Class A State Championship.
Over 30 teams and nearly 400 competitors participated in the meet, which culminated in an awards ceremony in Peakes Auditorium. Bangor High School entered seven teams in the meet and over 170 BHS students regularly compete on the various squads.
The perennial class of the Maine teams, BHS Math is coached by longtime Math Department Head Stephen Godsoe along with assistant coach Carl Robbins. The team has won 107 of the previous 108 EMML meets and has earned multiple State Championships since 1994.
