BHS continues to provide full athletic training services to support the healthy and ongoing participation of students during the three seasons and into the summer months.
The National Athletic Trainers’ Association defines athletic training as a profession that “encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions. Athletic training is recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA), Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as an allied health care profession.”
Bangor High School collaborates with Select Physical Therapy to provide a full-time athletic trainer to be accessible for all student-athletes. The Head Athletic Trainer, Thomas Marshall, is available daily in the athletic training room attached to the Red Berry Gymnasium. Thomas is available after school and covers home athletic events based on need. No appointment is necessary, but encouraged.
Trainer Marshall is originally from the Western Foothills of Maine. Thomas graduated from the University of New England in 2019 with his Bachelor’s of Athletic Training. He received his Master’s of Athletic Training in 2020 at East Stroudsburg University while working as a Graduate Assistant for Kutztown University. Thomas joined the Select Physical Therapy team in August 2020 to become the athletic trainer for Bangor High School.
