The BHS Art Department is proud to announce that our students received 7 awards for their art submitted to the Scholastic Art Awards. Six juries adjudicated our state’s student work, convening virtually for the first time in Scholastics history. Jury members hailing from Maine’s professional artist community — including the Portland Museum of Art, Center for Maine Contemporary Art, professional artists, and local gallery and museum curators — were tasked with awarding honors to Maine’s outstanding young artists. There were more than 59 schools from over 80 different Maine communities represented, both records for Maine’s Scholastics competition!
All of this year’s winners are part of an online exhibition hosted by Maine College of Art celebrating the 2021 Maine Region Scholastics Art Awards. This year’s winning works can be found on their website.
The 2021 Maine Region Scholastics Art Exhibition will culminate with a virtual awards ceremony on Saturday, March 13, 2021 to celebrate Maine student’s achievements and to honor our state’s art educators.
