Superintendent James Tager as well as Principal Butler and the faculty and staff at Bangor High would like to congratulate theBHS Speech and Debate Teams on their accomplishments at the State Meet held this weekend at BHS!
“I am proud of the versatility, ingenuity, intelligence, and cohesiveness that the Bangor High School Speech and Debate Team demonstrates. Programs such as this are made possible by dedicated coaches and a school administrative team that values co and extra-curricular participation for all students,” said Superintendent Tager.
In Speech, Maddie Carrol placed 5th in Novice Poetry and Joey Rutledge placed 4th in humorous interpretation.
In Congressional debate, Emily Rutherford placed 4th in the house. In Junior Varsity debate, Brayden Sloan placed 5th and Beatrix Foster placed 3rd.
In Varsity debate, Julianna Venturelli placed 3rd, Kaitlyn Kelleter placed 2nd, and Elizabeth Shum placed 1st, achieving the title of the State Lincoln-Douglas Debate Champion. Overall, the team did extremely well, and has been named the Debate State Champions for 2022-2023.
The coaches, Matthew Leland and Stephanie Hendrix, would like to thank all of the families of the students and our teachers for their support and superb teaching skills, which have both directly and indirectly prepared our students to achieve this immense level of success!
