A Message from Athletic Director Stephen Vanidestine:

During the school year, hundreds of our students will participate in interscholastic athletics. Over 250 students will participate in more than one sport.

The philosophy of our athletic program will be to provide appropriate athletic competition in as many sports as possible for both boys and girls. Our program accurately embraces the philosophy that provides for individual differences and the opportunity for each person to attain their fullest potential.

All students who are academically eligible and consistently demonstrate good school citizenship will be allowed to try out for any sport; however, the welfare of the individual and the team will be the criteria that determines whether or not the student participates in that sport.

The Athletic Department fully supports the goals of the Bangor School Department and functions as an integral part of the total school curriculum.

The ultimate goal of the athletic program is to provide experiences that contribute to the development of learning skills and emotional patterns that enable the student to maximize the use of his/her education in our modern society.

On our website, you will find our rules and policies, candidate contract, parental consent form, and various forms related to physical exams, insurance, etc. It is important that all forms are carefully read and accurately completed and returned to the athletic office. Any question regarding student medical records etc. must be directed to the athletic office. A complete record of all forms is kept on file in the athletic office for your convenience.

We look forward to serving the community’s needs in athletics and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact my office. I am confident you will be pleased with the athletic program at Bangor High.

Sincerely,

Stephen T. Vanidestine
Director of Athletics
